32 weeks

We had our maternity pictures taken this week by Stephanie Pando.  They turned out gorgeous!  We went to The Rose Garden and had a really fun time.  Sophie was really into it which made it even more special :-)  Such an excited big sister!  Auntie Coco came to play too!

By now, your baby weighs 3 3/4 pounds (about the size of a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

31 weeks on 7/14

We had a fun full week this week with Auntie Lindy, Uncle Will, Madi, Abby and Jake here for the week!  Lindy brought lots of fun things for Joel's room and more clothes for him handed down from Jake :-)  We also celebrated my 30th bday!

31 weeks!  Looking and feeling large :-)

Mommy and Daddy made Joel's name.  Daddy painted the crib black and Auntie Lindy made the blanket!

Auntie Lindy made the pictures on your wall on the left and Raegan Gallaher wood burned the picture above the window with the verse "He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." Ephesians 3:20  The picture is actually the first thing we had for his room and decided on his color scheme from it.

Judy Gerke made the alphabet picture on the right and Auntie Lindy made the "Fisher of Men" banner.
18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.19And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

30 weeks on 7/7/14

All ready for church!

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now and weighs almost 3 pounds (about the size of a large cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will shrink as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. -Baby Center

29 weeks on 6/30/14

I can not believe it is July! Nana G flew in today to be with us for the week.  Daddy is also home all this week and we are going to paint the nursery and the crib!  More and more preparation for Baby Joel!  We also got a new double stroller that is so nice and will look even better with Joel in it!  This weekend, we went to Laurel and Trevor Shephard's wedding at SFC and Villa Montalvo and had a blast!  What a gorgeous wedding and couple.

"Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain." -Baby Center

28 weeks on 6/23/14

We have made it to the third trimester!  Joel is moving all the time and my wedding ring doesn't fit anymore :-(  Overall, I am feeling pretty good though!

"By this week, your baby weighs 2 1/4 pounds (about the size of a large eggplant) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels.
He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world." -Baby Center

27 weeks on 6/16/14

This week we switched doctors and were very happy to meet Jennifer Conwell.  She is warm, helpful and supportive.  Sophie is getting more and more excited for her baby brother and said the other day, "I can't wait for Baby Joel to get here :-)!" I am also teaching Sophie's class at VBS this week.  I am excited to bring Joel to VBS in the future.
